BIRTH CHOICES
One evening course for women and their partners.
This course will help you understand what choices are available to you in Toronto for your pregnancy
and birth experience. It will help you get in touch with your own vision for your experience and help
you match that with the resources available in our community. This class is for you if you are curious
and wondering about
• How do I decide between an obstetrician and a midwife?
• Do I need a doula? (What does a doula do?)
• How do I know what kind of birth experience is right for me?
• What are my options around prenatal testing procedures?
• What is water birth?
• What are my options for dealing with labor pain?
• How do I best assure that I will have the kind of birth that I want?
PREPARING FOR MOTHERHOOD: A JOURNEY OF CREATION
This workshop is an opportunity for pregnant women to explore the full range of emotions that
accompany childbearing. We will use creative, artistic and emotional tools to define and embrace
your unique way of being a mother. You will learn the importance of letting go of the past and
surrendering to the wisdom of your own (pro)creative process.
PRENATAL NUTRITION…for the whole family!
You’re thinking of becoming pregnant or you’re just barely pregnant, but you probably have lots of
questions about what to eat. What will most nourish you and your growing baby? Feeling happy and
positive about yourself – including how you feel about your body and your food choices – is
fundamentally important to giving your baby the best start in life. Registered dietician Elke
Sangmueller will present important information for making informed, healthy choices to support your
and your baby’s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Nutrition is a family affair, so bring along
your partner and anyone else who makes food or eats in your household!
